I want to let some old families I work know I'm pregnant

I used to be a nanny and was close to a few of the families. I sorta lost touch with them in the last few months. One doesn't really need childcare anymore and the other uses daycare. I sent each mom a message,not saying I was pregnant,but sorta hinting at it. It was weeks ago and no response from either family yet. Should I send another message that actually announces it? I was sorta thinking a little message to my e-mail contacts mentioning it.

With the one mom,she's a photographer and I'd asked if she was still taking pics and if she'd be interested in taking some me sometime,we could do an exchange. I sorta thought she'd at least ask why the odd request.

If you want them to know, why *wouldn't* you announce it straight out? You can't expect people to respond to oblique hints, and I can't see why a photographer would automatically link a request to trade services with the fact that you're pregnant, unless she only takes maternity photos. And even then...

I didn't expect them to guess or to know my news. I'd feel a bit strange telling them outright since it's been so long since we've last talked or messaged. I don't want them to think I'm only telling them so they will give me all their baby stuff or something.

I don't really understand the dilemma. Tell the people you want to know! If you're not close with them anymore I don't see the need, but if you want to then send them the email. It won't hurt. I'm sure they're happy for you even if they don't reply.

I was very close to the one family since their now 5 year old was 9 months old and was there when their 3 year old was born. I last babysat for them about 6 months ago. It just feels a bit strange to all of a sudden contact them again put of the blue.

No reason not to if you're sharing the news
