How about a vegetarian TF and raw food combo thread? - Page 2

I like this idea too! I just recently became mostly vegetarian (I eat fish on occasion) and try to stay away from dairy although I still do cheese despite trying not too and eat eggs as well. I tried to go vegan and like to eat vegan meals but decided going vegetarian was easier at the moment. I'm trying to ditch processed foods and sugar too. I drink green juice every morning and have added a few green smoothies in as well. I think I might try to do one of each a day but haven't decided yet. I'd love to eat mostly raw vegan but it's hard when cooking for my family and it's hard to suddenly do overnight!

I'd like to start cooking my own breads, soaking/sprouting beans/grains etc but I'm not sure how to start. Guess I need to find a resource. Lots of changes and things to learn!

Today I was so hungry and really craving meat. I almost broke down and ate a hot dog (albeit a grass-fed organic beef hot dog) but still...

Hope to get some good ideas here!

If you want to start with a few soaked grains recipes I really like Sue Gregg's pancakes. I suppose her muffins and coffee cakes are probably just as good.

Thanks I'll try that. Maybe I'll set it up tonight even. I had found her website before but I didn't have buttermilk and have been trying to go no dairy, but I'll just sub with rice milk...

The main problem is I never get around to planning things out ahead of time. I need to work on my menu planning complete with when to soak/prep ahead of time.

If you don't use something cultured then add some vinegar for the acidity. If you make coconut kefir or another alternative culture try that. I found this recipe for soaked diary free pancakes.

I never did set the pancake mix up before bed... I do have coconut kefir although I didn't make it. Didn't think to try that. I'll have to try that and the ones from the nourishing gourmet. I like that website. Thanks for the ideas!
