Bunch of tiny bruises & I'm panicking

1yo DS had blood drawn today (really bad phlebotomist) and now, 2 hours later, I noticed he has a ton of little tiny pin-prick bruises all over his arm!!! I hope I'm just being paranoid but I've never seen a bruise that looked like this

Why was he having the draw--is he symptomatic w/something? They might be petechiae if they don't fade in color (temporarily) when you press on them. That might be significant esp. if they were looking for something. If it's petechiae I'd call the doctor. If the fade when you lift off after pressing that's a good sign. I can't remember what it's called but my son had that.

They don't fade when you press them. DH already called the doc, he's trying again to get ahold of him.
