Alternative Therapies

Would love to know what kinds of alternative therapies others are trying with SN kids and how they have been working.

I'll go first...

We do craniosacral therapy each week and it's been amazing. The therapist trained at the Family Hope Center and it has really helped our baby.

We are seeing an acupuncturist next week (for acupressure).

Also seeing a macrobiotic counselor for help with DD's sensitive digestive system.

We do ABM- Anat Baniel Method, a kind of Feldenkrais. Our AMB people also do craniosacral work.

We also do NACD which is a whole learning system. They do sensory stuff, PT type stuff and movement therapy, language activities and cognitive activities. We have seen the most progress in the shortest amount of time doing this program.

Our Ped is also a licensed homeopath, and her partners are an ND and an herbalist, all while being board certified pediatricians too. She gives us homeopathic remedies for DD and some herbal blends when she is sick.

We have been looking into Nutravene-D supplements, but hold off not knowing if they will interact badly with DDs seizure meds.

We do the biomedical treatments for children on the spectrum. It's been very helpful to us.

Yes! Same here. It really made a difference with speech and social interaction.

We're going to be starting NACD next month! We have a meeting with the neurodevelopmentalist in mid March, and I'm really excited. I've heard so many good things about it from two other moms I know in my area.

We do hyperbarics and ABM, and have been pretty satisfied with both. I feel like we see good results, but I'm always impatient.
