Sick mom - which medicines should I take?

I have sore throat, strep, cold and cough too. Which cough medicine is ok for breastfeeding. I have Vicks Dayquil and Robitussin with me but can buy any other cough suppressant too - as long as they don't interfere with my milk supply or let harmful substances in to my DD

Same with lozenges. I got the honey-lemon-ginseng one(has menthol which is spearmint and is bad for bm supply right?) and was wondering if ginseng was ok for breastfeeding? I don't want to let harmful substances seep through in my breastmilk nor my breastmilk supply to be reduced.

I'm not sure how much gets into breast milk, but I know it is ok to take motrin while nursing. I just had a doosy of a cold and ear infection and lived on 4 motrin 2 times a day. Not the best but I could hardly function otherwise and with 2 toddlers that's not a option.

Hope you feel better soon.

By the was I think the meds you listed are not safe for breastfeeding, you can call a pharmacy and they can tell you.

I'm going to move this to Breastfeeding, but I think you want to stay away from things that have a "drying up" effect, because they can dry up your milk supply as well. Hope you feel better soon, mama.

pseudoephedrine is an ingredient to avoid IMO. Really really good at drying up milk supply.

Hope you feel better soon!
