HELP-intact 4.5year old/white spot when retract

Thread Starter
IS THIS NORMAL Inthe tub for the first time tonight my son retracted his penis(something we do not do regularly.) I noticed a white spot where the foreskin is attached when it was retracted. It looks like a piece of ivory bath soap got stuck-part of it is under the skin still attached and the other seems exposed. My son tried to pick it off and said it hurt when he did that and it must be part of his body. It is slightly smaller than an apple seed-it actually looks like the fat deposits in raw chicken. I've never noticed this before-it's been a few weeks since he's messed around with his penis in the tub. Sometimes the tip gets red when it's not retracted. He said it doesn't hurt and it doesn't hurt to pee. IS THIS NORMAL? I can not imagine taking him to our old school mainstream pediatrician and having him have to show a dr this. Will it go away? What is it? HELP PLEASE. Thanks from a worried Mom who is clueless when it comes to this sort of thing.

Sounds like a smegma pearl. And yes, that is normal. Just part of the separation process.

This thread has more information, scroll down to see "Smegma Pearl":

If he can pee OK, no pain, I'd say no worries at all.

I am thinking not smegma pearl but a harmless Preputial Cyst if you check out the thread Ann-Marita put up you can read about it there. The difference is a smegma pearl comes loose and isnt attached to the skin, the cyst is under the top layer of skin and cannot be removed.
