I am 21 weeks pregnant and am still nursing my 22 month old. He nurses infrequently (one time a day or sometimes, not at all), so my supply is way down - if there at all. I need new nursing bras badly and would like to (finally) get a few good ones. Do I need to wait until after my next baby arrives? Will my bra size change or is it safe to buy now?

My breasts haven't changed much since 21 weeks. I've heard of women whose breast size changes dramatically in the weeks after delivery, but that wasn't me with the first one. I went out and bought one nursing bra to take to the hospital, but I'm not going to buy more until after the baby is born, just in case. I'm somewhat overweight with a large chest, so my bra size changes throughout nursing anyway. I figure that if I can't wear this new one right away, my size will go down as I lose weight and I'll be able to wear it then. I get burned on buying bras so often, though (comfy in the store... hell after an hour; flattering in the store... double-boob the next day), so I'm always wary of buying more than one bra at a time.

I only bought 1 when I was pregnant with my first. Good thing, since I went up another cup size after that. With my 2nd, I stayed the same size throughout the pregnancy, nursing and all and went up yet again after that pregnancy. If this is the pattern, I will have to buy more nursing bras after this one arrives.

I am really hoping that doesn't happen with me! I went from a DD to a G with this baby - #1 - and it is hard and expensive to buy bras of any sort. I hope I don't continue to go up sizes!
You know, depending on the kind of support you like, the Bravado original bras are sort of a range of sizes so you would probably be ok in one of those. Otherwise I think I'd wait until 30 weeks or so before buying a "sized" bra - I think I went to a G and stayed there by that time.

I just bought some nursing tanks and a bra that came in S,M,L, XL -- I can still wear those 4 mos. after the babe was born and I could wear them before, too. That's what I'd do.. The bras were by bravado http://www.amazon.com/Bravado-Design...ref=pd_sbs_a_5
