She's really "getting" Miquon!

My dd 6 is about halfway through the Red book and is finally taking a very independent and exploratory approach to Miquon!

She loves math but up until now has pretty much needed my feedback for every problem because she's a perfectionist and can't stand making "mistakes".

Anyways, just thought I'd share.

I was kind of doubting Miquon for a little while because it's so open and it seemed to be a little intimidating to her to get into by herself, but it seems like she's now getting into the groove that I believe Miquon intends with the program.

We've been using Miq as our primary with Singapore as a supplement, and I think we'll try and stick with this for next year.

Yeah! I'm glad we stuck with it; it took a book and a half for the method to really "click" but I really think it's going to serve her well to have such an open, exploratory approach to math. Well worth the perseverance!

Not that it was necessarily a bad fit, just that it took her a while to really feel super comfortable with the program.

Can't wait to see what the next level brings

We're just finishing up the orange book now...my ds sounds like your child...such a perfectionist! He enjoys it, though...although we're not at a point where he would pick it up and do it on his own out of sheer interest. We may never get there, but it sure would be nice. I do love the Miquon approach. We combine it with Waldorf style math and it's working really well for now.
