Compost Question

I'm about to start composting for the first time. The snow in my yard is starting to melt and I know have lots of soggy leaves. Can I throw them on the pile now, or should I wait for them to dry?

Wet leaves okay. Mix with something dry if you can or at the first chance you get. Otherwise, they'll make a nice tight mat in there and just be a stinky mess for a long time. So layering with something drier would be preferable.
