clomid and delayed ovulation

I had miscarriage in last summer of 2 months pg. After that my periods were irregular before that it was 32 days and I use to ovulate on day 18/19.

As there was no success in 6 months and my cycles became irregular, my doctor started clomid 50mg. For first cycle I ovulated on day 14, I used digital Ovulation kit. But no luck in pg. My progesteron blood work showed I ovulated it was 10. But doctor increased my dose saying progesteron is low.

So this month with 100mg clomid, the ovulation kit didn't show ovulation till day 20. On day 20 it was negative on digital kit and positive on the normal one. The blood work on Day 21 of progesteron showed that I didn't ovulate.
Is it posssible that ovulated on after day 20/21?

Has anyone experienced no ovulation on increased dose of clomid though it happened on low dose?

a few things

first of all i would like to welcome you to MDC, you have found a great group of ladies here!

i question why your doctor had increased your dose, the literature clearly says that should not be done without good reason, mostly because the increased dose will increase your side effects, and some of those can actually hurt your chances.

10 was a perfectly fine progesterone level to have, and progesterone tests are notoriously hard to get accurate since your levels spike and fall thru out the day. so the only way they should really decide you have low progesterone is based on symptoms (lots of spotting, overly short LP, repeat very early miscarriages) very very sorry for your loss last summer, lets hope you never have another.

progesterone must be done about 7 days past your ovulation, not on day 21, day 21 only works if you O in day 14. if you O'd on day 20/21 you need your test on day 27/28 and you if you did O that would catch it then.

a lot of things has stop you from Oing, including something simple like stress, if you usually O im sure you are fine.

Have you read the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility i can't recommend it enough you will learn tons.

one thing that is important to understand that a peek surge in a OPK only means your body is getting ready to O, it does not assure you that it happened, they only thing that can do that is a clear shift on a BBT chart or a clear number on a progesterone test

It was so nice to see your reply.
My doctor wanted progesterone level to be at 15, so he increased the dose. On some websites I found that progesterone 10 is a good number if you are not on medication. But if you are on medication(clomid etc) progesterone 15 is a good number.

I had the same issue on 50 mg of Clomid and needed more to qualify as a good ovulation. Are you being monitored? An ultrasound around CD 10 will tell you what is going on. OPKs can give false reading when on Clomid, so you may want to try something like OvaTel. It has really worked well for me. I have also heard that women in their 30s ( I am 35) are more likely to stop ovulating from Clomid than women in other age brackets. I had to have ultrasounds and the hCG trigger when on Clomid. If I have to go back on meds to get PG this time, I will choose Femera.
