Anyone heard about the cash for appliance clunkers program?

So, my washing machine died, and I had the repair technician come out to try to fix it today, and it was beyond repair. Anyway, I went out to Sears to check out new washers just for curiosity sake, and found out that there is a new cash-for-clunkers program for appliances going on right now. They also had a rebate for the washer I was interested in, and it was on sale. I totally wasn't planning to buy one today, but I got a nearly $700 washer for $350. Vermont is also doing a tax free day tomorrow, and they were willing to do all of the paperwork, take my credit card number and run the card tomorrow and mail me the receipt. I can't believe how much I paid for the new washer!

The repair guy also gave me a coupon for an extra $65 off, and 10% off the service plan. I have never been so happy to have a dead appliance!

Here is the website about the program: http://www.energysavers.gov/financial/70020.html

Yes! In our state though, they ran out of funds in under 24 hours!!! Check with your utility company too. They might offer an additional rebate on top of all that. What kind of washer did you get? You'll probably save on energy/water use if you were replacing one even a couple years old because they make them more and more efficient each year.

MN had a plan that started on Monday. By Tuesday, they were out of money!

Holy smokes, that is crazy that they ran out of money for it so quickly. I am so glad that I got in on mine when I did. I am assuming since I bought mine that they will honor the cash for clunkers rebate. (crossing my fingers)

I bought an LG front loader. The guy at Sears said the the LG and the Kenmore were identical machines, but the Kenmore name cost about $50 more. It did look pretty much idendical, and the features were the same. He said they were made in the same factory too. My old machine was 10 years old, so I am very excited about my new one!

Would I call my electric company about additional rebates? I don't pay for my own water bill, so I can't call them. I am soooooo excited to get my new washer, it is being delivered two days before my birthday!
