carrier for 25 lb 2 year old?

We have a ring sling and a mei tai. I LOVE both. We are taking a lengthy trip that will have a lot of walking/hiking. The mei tai we have is too short and when she goes to sleep her head falls back.

I was looking at the Babyhawk Oh Snap as well as the Ergo, however both of them seem like they are short through the bodies and her head will be flopping all over the place. So what carrier would be the best for us?

I use both a mei tai and an ergo for DS, but he usually snuggles his head down toward me if he falls asleep, otherwise I think his head would flop. The ergo does have a hood that you can snap on to keep her head in place, though. What about a ToddlerHawk? I think those have longer bodies.

I wear my 30-ish lb 2 yr old in an Ergo Sport. We use the sleep hood when he falls asleep. He enjoys the Ergo and asks for it by name or by saying 'pa-pack'.

I'm drooling over the Boba 2G for toddler back carrying.

I loved my ergo for long distance carrying when there was the potential for a nap. The little hood is adjustable and snaps easily. It's very comfortable.

I loved our Ergo

We use the ergo mostly, too, but yes, it does have that head-flop problem. I think there are longer-bodied SSCs out there, which might be a bit more comfortable for a toddler, but I haven't tried any of them because the ergo is still working well enough for us (my DD is also 2 and a bit less than 25 lb.).

I really loved wrapping my DD when she was 2yo; it was more comfortable for me for longer than a mei tai, since I could rewrap to distribute the weight differently.

Since you have wraps you love. Why don't you just get a triangle bandage (or scarf) when baby starts getting tired (or falls asleep) you can just tie it over one shoulder to under one arm across baby to support the head. (if baby is wearing a hat of some kind it works best...extra friction) Not only will this stop the head flopping but it will also offer sun/light protection. Plus you won't have to spend big bucks on another wrap You'll also be set if anyone breaks an arm :P (as per usual please use common sense and don't tie baby with the face mashed into you to suffocate)
