My cat is a very messy eater...

We have to give wet food to our cats (not my choice) because one of them has urinary issues and needs the extra water. The other one (I think) likes to stick her paws in the food and track it all over the bathroom. It's even splattered on the walls around the dish. My husband, who feeds the cats early in the morning, doesn't bother to clean this up, so I end up having to deal with a huge dried mess. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to get a cat to stop eating like this!

Maybe buy one of those pet dishes that are elevated off the floor a bit? It might make it harder for her to play in her food.

I feel your pain, sort of. I have three cats, and they eat wet and dry food. But one of them refuses to eat his dry food out of the dish. He reaches his paw in and swipes a big paw-full of kibble out of the bowl and across the floor, and then crunches off the floor. Not as hard to clean up as your mess, but still annoying.

He does similar things with the water bowl. It sort of makes you laugh to watch it, but then you're like, "Erhm...I have to wipe that up, thankyouverymuch!"

So basically what you're saying is I have to accept it...

Would mixing some dry food in with her wet food perhaps stop some of the splatter? I've also found that my cats play with their food much less when I feed them separately. That's such a headache that I don't bother to do it anymore, though.
