Pre-handwriting book ?

I am looking for something fun to use with our 4 yo that has practice for the different kinds of lines and strokes to use to get ready for handwriting. I was hoping to find something that makes it artsy and creative. I've only found a few pre-handwriting books and they look kind of dry. Are there any fun ones anyone can recommend ? Thanks !

I believe the Kumon maze books are designed with lines going in a variety of directions to help build writing skills. I tried getting one for ds but he just did the mazes with his eyes.

My mom got my son that book to help his little fingers get ready for writing. He has always been a bit behind the average for fine motor skills so she thought it would be a good idea. He really likes doing the mazes and it did seem to help him get ready to write.

Also check the Dollar Tree - I bought a few little ABC workbooks so my big girl can practice tracing and writing. They are about 32 pages in each but have fun characters like Elmo, Disney, etc.

Thank you !!!

I also like the tracing one and the lower case letters one, and I'm going to get all three !

I missed all this stuff with DS1 because he had zero interest in anything approaching written work at this age and never did any of the preschooly stuff. DS2 is ready to get started a whole year earlier, so now I have to find materials appropriate for his age, and also fun. These look great !

I went to my local learning supply store (& you could always look online if there isn't one near you), & found several simple little "cut & trace" workbooks. They're full of different types of lines & shapes to trace, and lines to cut along. They worked fabulously for my 4 yr old.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Handwriting Without Tears at the pre-k level. It is fairly plain looking but it is highly effective and I have done it so far with my two oldest and am getting ready to buy it for my third child to do (it is that effective in my book) It starts with "aim and scribble" pages then goes on to doing colors and shapes and tracing lines and curly lines, then at the end they are printing capital letters and will learn to print their first name. I LOVE this program, we're still using it with the oldest two and I have no plans to switch programs any time soon.
