Hello
Has anyone used Winter Promise and their themed curriculums? I just received their catalog and some of it has piqued my interest for next year. I'll have a prek, 1st and 4th grader

If you have used it, liked it or didn't.. can you share your thoughts with me?

thanks

Chantal

I haven't personally used it, but I have gotten to physically have my hands on some of their materials and talked to the mom that used them. In theory it would be a GREAT program for us. The ability to combine all the kids into one level and tweak for their individual needs and the literature-based approach is great. The guide is really well laid-out too, not too difficult to read and understand IMO. However, it would probably work for us in practice about as well as Sonlight does past the pre-k levels. But our issue is not curriculum, its more our own issues with needing structure beyond a literature-based program LOL

But I am really tempted by Winter Promise too, every local mom I know here in our HS group that uses it LOVES it. I don't know a single mom in our group that used it and then switched to another program, but I know several who went to it from a different one.

We are using Winter Promise - American Story 1 and LOVE it. At first it was a little difficult to "keep up" because they have sooo much optional material, but now we just follow there schedule at our own pace and it is a great rich literature based curriculum.

We had gotten the LA unit and the programs didn't work well for us, but the adventure readers we love. We have a Netflix membership and use it to order a bunch of the optional videos (i.e. Liberty Kids, Columbus, etc).

My son is in 2nd grade, and I have two little ones as well (3.5 and 1.5). I priced out the books on Amazon and the savings was minimal so I just ordered the package through WP. Order early, it took a while to get everything!! Good Luck. We are definately using it next year.
