Can anyone help me find a better price for this bike seat?

I'm trying to find either a Bobike Maxi or a GMG Classics Rear Rack Mount Child Cycle Seat The Bobike I can't find for less then the $219 and the GMG I can only seem to find in the UK and the cost to import is around $100 just for shipping and not including VAT or what ever.

I know there has to be cheaper options, I ran into this issue when I went booking for the Bobike Mini which we've now outgrown. One Step Ahead ended up carrying it and I got it on sale for like $40 between 50% off and discount codes. Can anyone take a few minutes to help me find cheaper sources for either of these 2 seats? I haven't had much luck searching craigslist or ebay for used ones in the US.

Thanks!

ETA since this thread got revived, I got the Maxi! dd loves it! Just warning though, its bit of a pain to add panniers to the back. You have to hunt down either an extended bike rack like the J&D one ($80!) or try one with extended heel clearance and for some reason none of the 4 bike shops within an hour know what the heck I'm talking about so I have to grab the bike and drive an hour into the city to show them what the heck I need. Major headache when all I want to do is add side baskets to carry groceries! Anyway, retail on the Maxi is $280. There now popping up on ebay going from around $40 to $100, even at $100 their still worth it Now I just wish there was some way to lock the thing to the bike so someone can't walk off with it since its a quick release item.

Not unless I want to get ran over plus the trailers are really heavy and not good unless your riding on flat terrain which is not here, mostly hills. I don't think $200 is a bad price for a seat thats well made and will last at least 3 years of use when dd outgrows it and were looking at a lot of use for at least 6 months. Plus I'll still be able to resell it for at least half its value.

I am no help with prices. Have you looked on ebay?
I lived in a very hilly area most of the country referred to our hills as mountains. We loved our bike trailer. We pulled two kids in it plus everything we bought. It was not to heavy even going straight up.
I have a bike seat now for my bike. I hate it. Plus Maggie's legs are too long to ride safely. I wish we had invested in a bike trailer...well we are going to do that now.

Maybe try posting a "wanted" in the bicycle section of your local Craigslist? There might be someone nearby who has one just sitting around and who didn't think to sell it yet.

Why to long to ride safely? You just need a tire guard thingy, I have no idea what its called but look at the pic and you'll see what I'm talking about, keeps little feet out of the spokes quite well.

I've been looking EVERYWHERE for someone that will ship the yepp mini to the US. If you have found a retailer that will PLEASE send me the info. I don't mind paying the extra shipping and handling fees. Thanks!!!

I know! I know! I am pretty sure Clever Cycles in Portland, Oregon was the one who recommended the yepp as a better fit for my bike when I called to find out about ordering the Bobike Maxi. Its not on their website but they do stock it.

eta: oops! Thats for the maxi and you want the mini, I'd still try clever cycles. If your not adverse to the Bobike Mini which looks the same without the air holes one step ahead sells them and they come up on ebay too.

GMG Classic Rear Seat

I too have been searching endlessly for a US option for the GMG Classic Rear Seat. Or something similar for our Surly Big Dummy. We love the bike and just want a simple seat or even backrest-only option for our 2 girls. I'm a little late to the thread but was wondering if you'd found anything since your original post. Thx.

I already got the maxi but I'm thinking Clever Cycles in Portland can get the GMG or something similar. I remember talking to them about it but not the details but they did know what the seat was, that much I do remember.
