Let's talk poo for a minute.

So, pardon the TMI, but you're all parents so this shouldn't make you flinch.

How..er...processed is your LO's dook?

I can often see evidence of prior meals right there in the nappy/potty/floor (depending on how the day is going) and I wonder if it is an indication that she's not ready for the foods I am giving her if there are identifiable relics in her turds.

Steamed green beans, carrots, beetroot, raisins, pasta...you get the picture.

So either:

1. She is not chewing as well as she 'should' (she's just a wee one!)
b. She is not digesting as well as she 'should'
3. I'm giving her the wrong foods right now
d. I should just chill out and not sweat it as long as the passage is stress free

ha! I had to laugh about poop on the floor, that happens to us too!!!

In any case, my daughter is the same age and yes, we see all sorts of unprocessed foods in her poops. So I certainly hope it's normal and not anything to worry about. As long as there are no allergic/intolerance signs, keep on going! I'm not sure there's anything they can't really have at this point (barring allergies and things that are choking hazards).

So yeah-- I choose d!

And heck, if she's not in a picky phase with what she will and will not eat-- count yourself lucky.

The stuff that comes through unprocessed her poop is the stuff that I'll see in mine from time to time so .

I challenge you to poop in a diaper (or on the floor) for a week and see what's in yours!

Ha! We had some poop on the floor this morning I was emptying out the poop that was already in his potty when he did it, apparently he wasn't done with the potty!

Anyway, as for your question, DS's poop is still very chunky/unprocessed. If anyone wants to see some really neat looking poop, feed your LO a whole bunch of blueberries

I kind of think my daugher's poop is neat after eating a poppy seed muffin.

OMG, mine just went through a blueberry phase and would eat as many as I let him. He would eat 6-8 oz a day, and I'd eventually cut him off. His poo was completely black, with some barely distinguishable purple and green bits...

Same thing here! Corn and green beans look the same coming out as they did going in. Sweet potato turns it orange.

I choose d. My sons poo sometimes looks just like the meal I served him the night before.

Okay this is sort of off topic, but I just have to tell my blueberry poo story. For several summers during university, I treeplanted as a job. In one of the camps I lived in, there was a pet dog who just wandered around as we worked. When blueberry season started, the clearcuts we were replanting became absolutely loaded with berries and the dog loved them. He would spend all day nibbling them off the bushes with his little front teeth. Then one day he discovered that it was much faster to simply eat bear poo which was all over the place and was 100% blueberries at that time of year. It was so gross but we had to admire his ingenuity too!!

I'm with d as well. I hear that their poo gets more processed-looking once their molars come in and they can grind up food more.
