Help!!

We've run into a serious CD snag... my son has not only developed a sensitivity to polyester, but he's lean in the torso and has Herculean thighs. As a result, his bumGenius 3.0s no longer work (at one point the skin around his thighs was peeling off from being so irritated)! I've purchased a dozen red-edged prefolds from Green Mountain Diapers and four wool covers from Happy Heineys, and while those work for around the house I find that I can't get his car seat straps around his bowling ball butt with those diapers (even with the straps loosened all the way, which doesn't make me feel too safe!)

So.... I'm needing recommendations for diapers that are either cotton or wool, generous in the thighs but trim enough for a lean torso, and not expensive. The Swaddlebees pocket diapers seem like they would work, but are waaay out of my budget. The Mother-Ease AIOs look like another possibility, but I want to get more input from other serious CDing gurus.

TIA!

This is what my little guy has - the skinny tummy and the chubby thighs. Side snaps are going to be your friend. We really like Dream-Eze - they're nice and trim.

If you want a OS, then you need something with excellent leg elastic - Good Mamas, BSRB, Muttaquin 3SR and Bububebe are all good, but my fave is the Sustainable Babyish pin dipe. While you only have to buy one set of OS to last until PL, they are more pricey, and they will give your little one a fluffier butt than a sized dipe.

The other option is to get Disana Tie nappies. You use your PFs as stuffers inside the nappy, and once you get the hang of it, they'll give you a beautiful fit on any size tummy/thigh. The drawback being that a traditional cover or wool soaker won't fit over them. You need shorts or pants.

We like the ME aio's, but my babe is chubby everywhere, so I can't speak to the waist/thigh issue...

I would suggest Mother-ease as well.

Also, what about prefolds with an Imse Vimse cover? Probably a bit trimmer than a wool soaker.

Good luck!

Imse Vimse don't work so well with a skinny tummy... the NB size is still too big on my 5 mo's waist, but we have to use the Sm to cover the rise (which is WAY too big in the waist).
