Seems there are a few of us on today - hope all you mothering experts have your thinking caps on!
DS is 26 months, still nursing a few times during the day and bedtime but mostly nightweaned (we used Jay Gordon's method about 2 months ago). He still wakes every few hours through the night but settles easily cuddled up to me without nursing...Until 4am. If I don't nurse him at this waking then we have an hour of up and down, crying and shouting and no going back to sleep. So we're up for the day. If I do nurse him then he usually settles for a while (40 minutes to an hour) then wants to nurse every 40 minutes until we get up at 6am. I get so p****d off that I just get up in a big strop. I've never been able to sleep through nursing very well, and am now 7 weeks pregnant so finding it even harder to drop back off to sleep as nursing lying down is becoming quite painful.
So I feel stuck between a rock and a hard place - a 4am wake up OR 2 hours of on off nursing and up at 6am.
Any advice? we are still cosleeping DS's single bed alongside the big bed, though he crawls over to me most nights. He still has a nap during the day usually 1hr 20mins to 2 hrs.
Please help - I hate getting so angry with my darling boy and it's a horrible way to start the day!
