Washing pans in dishwasher??

Will I damage my stainless steel pans--all different brands from cheapo to more pricey--if I start washing them in the dishwasher? Will I make them leach something into our food?

Your pans should say something about whether or not they can go in the dishwasher. If you don't have paperwork for them still, you can check the companies' websites. Personally, I don't put pans in the dishwasher, probably because it's something my family never did, and I've also had hard anodized for years that can't go it. But, I put my stainless steel flatware in, and that doesn't seem to affect it.

Just looked at All-Clad's website and it says that "You can wash stainless in the dishwasher."

All my pots and pans that aren't CI go in the dishwasher. If they fit, they go in is my motto. I have better things to do with my time than handwash dishes.

I put mine in the dishwasher if there is room. They don't get as sparkly clean (look dull inside after sometimes), so once in a while I shine them up with a little Barkeeper's Friend. Mine aren't super high end though - if I had all clad maybe I'd hesitate more?

I have enough to had wash with all my cast iron so often it is either the dishwasher or nothing

I'm lazy, so if it fits in the dishwasher, that's where it gets washed.
