First of all, let me thank TexasMum for posting the initial thread and making everyone aware of William's arrival. Thanks, lady!!!
Got the call around 5am to head on to hospital when we're ready. We arrived around 6:30, got prepped and ready for my pit drip around 8am. They checked my shortly thereafter and I was at a 3cm. The way the resident doc checked me and the way my OB checked me were TWO completely different ways, so I was thrilled to hear that I already progressed that much in a week!!! They upped my pit at around 9am to get the contractions going a bit more and they did, but nothing that was too painful......
A couple of hours went by, contractions were really mild - nothing that I couldn't talk through or laugh through (DH was making me laugh left and right). At exactly 11:53am, they broke my water and I noticed an immediate difference in my contractions - whoa, mama!! So much more so that I couldn't concentrate on what was going on - myself or the baby, so I opted for a epidural at around 5.5cm. Within 3.5 hours, I went from a 5 to a 10cm - felt really, really strong pressure that was becoming unbearable even with an epidural and a strong urge to push. Pushing took roughly 20 minutes. Once Will's head came through, my OB was playing with his hair - giving him a mohawk. It was actually really funny - sort of breaking the tension and enjoying this delivery. It kept me focused on pushing a lot more than I thought it would. And then, there he was - born at 3:53pm - 8lbs, 14 oz, 22 inches long. Exactly 4 hours of labor. Quick, easy, and wonderful.
Will latched on right away - but didn't prefer the left breast, so I switched to the right and he's been a GREAT nurser ever since. My milk came in roughly 3 days after he was born, but I didn't feel it the way I did with my first.
He's so sweet, cute, cuddly, and just amazing. And the amount of hair ihe has is still blowing me away. He has so much - much more than DS#1 did. Love it!!
We're all doing well. DS#1 is in love with his baby brother - always giving him kisses and stroking his hair. He's been really helpful around the house, too.
DH and I are infatuated with Will. Our lives have changed again, but we just had no clue how MUCH they would change again once Will entered our world.
I will try and post some pics soon. Thanks again for all of the well wishes and I hope everyone is doing well!!
