drinking kombucha = nausea ?

My dad is in a nursing home after suffering a stroke. He has a PEG tube and is on antibiotics right now. I still have not been able to get ahold of the "doctor" about why he is receiving antibiotics, or about the c. diff. my mom contracted, or about the fact that my dad needs to get probiotics through the PEG tube ASAP. His swallow is not 100%, but he is able to have small sips of liquids.

I gave him about 3 Tbps. of store-bought kombucha last night, as well as about a half a cup of my chicken stock.

He said the kombucha made him sick to his stomach. Is that a normal reaction, or should I stop giving it to him?

I'd stop. Some folks can start drinking it in large quantities and they feel fine, but others have issues. It can mobilize toxins, even in small quantities. Maybe it's just the change in bacterial balance--can you get some water kefir grains? If it's ok for him to drink what he likes, water kefir would have a nice mix of probiotics without the issues of kombucha. Some folks have bad reactions just to starting probiotics, that seems less likely, but in terms of problem-solving the issue, I'd start with a different probiotic food/beverage.
