VBA2C - Do I HAVE to tell Dr about 2 previous c/s?

I was thinking, since none of the doctors around here attempt VBA2C deliveries, can I just tell them I've only had 1 c/s instead of the 2 I've really had?

My 1st was vaginal, 2nd and 3rd were c/s. Each child was born at a different hospital. So the hospital I'm returning to (had my 1 c/s there) does not know I've had a 3rd child or c/s. Do they have to know?

I was thinking maybe I can get away with having my VBAC if I just "neglected" to tell them. The thing is, I HATE being sneaky and dishonest and what if it comes back to bite me in the bottom?

Do any of you think this could be a possibility?

Thanks!

I would never recommend lying to your doctor about your health history. It prevents them from providing you with appropriate care.

Are you certain they absolutely do not allow VBA2c? Given that you have a 'proven pelvis', I would think they might make an exception for you. Also considering that you have had several years for your scar to heal.

From what I've seen on these boards, you can ALWAYS refuse a c-section when you get the hospital, and they can't turn away a laboring mother. I would shop around for the doctor that seems the most vbac-friendly and see if you can't drum up some support for your plan, even if the hospital technically doesn't condone them.

Not sure what else to tell you, but I would be pretty uncomfortable lying to my doc about something as significant as that.

That's what I was saying, I hate being sneaky and dishonest, and son't know if I could actually go through with it, but, I have called the hospitals and they all claim they do not do VBA2C. Do you have a better way of finding a provider? Do I need to call each and every doctor around to see if they do them? Plus, how do you even get the actual dr on the phone. Easier said than done.

I went late with my 1st (only 10 days) and my attempted VBAC with #3 (9 days and still no labor, progressed with c/s), so I know they are not going to let me go over 42 weeks if that. So if they schedule the c/s do I just not show up? One of the area midwives seems to think that if I don't show up and cut off contact until I go into labor myself will have family services knocking on my door.

Any opinions?

Hmmmm. I agree that, as a provider, I really DO NOT Like to be lied to. It gives me the creepy crawlies when I have to deal with that client. That said...seeing as the statistical liklihood of rupture is just about the same with first and second cesareans/VBACs, if it truely is the only way to get your VBAC in your area, it may be your only option. THAT said. Have you looked into home birth, to hiring a traveling midwife, to traveling to a VBAC friendly state for your labor/birth? They ARE options, where you could talk to your provider frankly about your health history. And that is always the safest bet, and the way that you can best have a great relationship with your care provider.

In either case, I would be VERY CERTAIN that you are eating REALLY REALLY well, getting lots of protein, omega fats, and vit c for tissue health, and exercising well, every day, if you can, as well as getting chiropractic care, all to make it more likely that you will get that VBAC at the end of your pregnancy because you are so well!

How could you hide that? Most doctors want your medical records... An Ob is usually going to want records from the previous OB to treat you.
