35 WEEK APPOINTMENT

-1LB from last week, total +22LBS
-fundal height 34-35
-dunno what my BP was, but they didn't say anything so it must be fine

Baby is now transverse, head very far on my left side. Nowhere remotely near my pelvis. Right now, we're not in danger of him engaging with his bottom, which is good I suppose. I go back next week and I plan to put off my internal/GBS till the week after--because I'm not bothering with that nonsense until we know if this kid might come out as God intended

34 week appointment today!

Baby is still breech, head up on the right side, butt down and off to the left, with one foot down low in my pelvis.

* No weight gain from last appointment- total of 22lbs so far!! I've gained 60 & 50 in my last two pregnancies, so it's looking I'll stay under 30lbs this time, that was my goal.
* BP- 132/67- I had laid down forgetting BP was first, then sat up quickly, I think it was artificially higher.
* Measuring 34cm exactly!
* Heartrate 150-160's

Next appointment 8/15 then weekly from then on, consult with OB will be scheduled for next appointment if baby is still breech.

ANNOUNCEMENT: This baby is not allowed out between August 18th and August 27th. Our wonderful, beloved OB is out of town for that period, and I would not want to labor with a stranger. Sweet man...he actually said he'd be more disappointed than me or dh to miss the birth of our daughter. He's been there for all of our births, and ds2 was named after him. I REALLY want him there. After dh, he's the most important presence in the room for me.

Otherwise, 36-week check up was good. Normal BP, no weight gain, good heartbeat, measuring 38 weeks. He said I was doing so well I could skip the 37-week appointment and just come for the 38-week with the nurse practioner while he's away on vacation. No dilation check.

The one doh! moment was when he was about to swab me for the GBS and I said "three guesses it'll be positive"...which reminded him I've been positive both previous pregnancies, and then he said he'd rather just give me antibiotics (which truly, I'm okay with), because since I have such a long-established presence of GBS he'd assume a negative test was a false-negative. AND, since I haven't been doing any anti-GBS protocol, I think that's probably the safest bet anyway. Still--doh! I should have just let him do the swab....I would have been curious (not $100 for the test curious, but still...) to see what the results would be.

Oh...and baby is measuring "big" with a "big head." He knows me well enough to know saying those things won't scare me...all of our kids have had HUGE noggins. And when I asked him what "big" meant, he said it's still to early to tell, but he's guessing she'll be 8+ or 9+ at 40 weeks. He was only off a 1/2 pound with ds3, so I believe him.

Given the babies here at MDC, is it wrong that 8 or 9 pounds seems perfectly healthy and reasonable?

34 week appt. today

BP was great.
+1 pound in the last 2 weeks (11 pounds total)
measuring 36 weeks
HR was good
baby is posterior

36 Week appointment (really 36w5d)

BP Good
40lb weight gain total (that is making me uneasy. I've gained it with each pregnancy so I'm trying to tell myself that it is just normal for me but seeing the number jump is not something I like)
Measuring 36 weeks
GBS -

Aside from finding out that I was negative on the GBS test, I was so frustrated this trip. I had to bring both kids who are over summer break and prevented me from asking the Dr things I really wanted to go over. He seems to be quick to leave the room too, which I understood for the 2nd Tri appointments where it was pretty much just to check the heartbeat/measurements. Now he's cleared me for delivery and I want to go over that with him...

37 WEEK APPT

BP: 120/70
+0lbs/+28lb total
35-36cm
GBS - (!!!!!)

My OB keeps saying all the stars are aligning for my VBAC. It was super great news that I am GBS - ...one less thing to worry about since I had a massive reaction to the abx last time. She also okayed intermittent monitoring (!) and will be adding that directive to my chart. We decided next Thursday or Friday is a good day to have a baby

Yay for GBS - !

I have an appt tomorrow at 35+4... my OB just got off of vacation so I haven't seen him in a month (saw someone else in the practice 2 weeks ago). I need to make a list of all the stuff we need to talk about-- since I went at about this time with my last pregnancy, I'm feeling kind of urgent to get everything figured out. I don't know whether or not he's planning on checking my cervix, usually I think they start at 36 weeks if you want to, but I'm way curious because of all the prodromal that has been going on-- it will be a bit encouraging if I'm already making some progress. And if I'm not, maybe I'll allow myself to take some deep breaths and relax.

I had my 38-wk appointment yesterday and everything went well except that while the midwife was listening to the HB it was down in the 90s for a while. She sent me right away for a NST, which went really well, so I'm not sure what the deal was. I've been feeling a bit nervous ever since, especially since he hasnt' been moving as much these last couple weeks (which I thought was normal and they were telling me was normal).

I won't have my next appointment until possibly 40 weeks now, too, even though I'm supposed to be going every week now. The midwives have training in the afternoons next week and morning appointments are all booked up. If no one is having a baby I'll go in on Wednesday morning; otherwise I won't go back until 2 weeks from today. I'm thinking he'll be here by then anyway.

Not to say she probably didnt think of it, but sometimes we all have brain fart moments...

Was she maybe getting YOUR heartbeat instead of his?

I find often, during pregnancy, MY heartbeat is in the low 90s.
I hadn't thought of that, but I don't think it was the case because it did speed back up to the 120s or so for a while. Good thing to keep in mind though, I completely forgot about that possibility.

Wash... rewash whenever I go potty (since that would be around every 4 hours) or just as baby is descending.

Appointment today, at 35+4...

So I'm already dilated 2 centimeters and almost totally effaced. Ozzy is head down but not engaged. OB said not to worry too much since the head wasn't way low, but yeah-- could go into labor at any time and he wouldn't be surprised.

Of course I could also walk around at 2 cm for another month, but yeah, not looking likely that I'm going overdue since I'm not even 36 weeks and apparently all this prodromal is working on my cervix.

Sour note is right at the end while I'm checking out, he popped his head out and asked if we could do an ultrasound. I said what for, he said just to check the growth. I said okay, I'll show up for the u/s, but if he thinks I'm going to be induced for a "big baby" he's got another think coming. Anyway, if I go into labor in the next two weeks, which I'm kind of thinking might happen, it will be moot anyway. I already had a vaginal birth of a good-sized baby with no problem even despite posterior positioning and sunny-side-up delivery, I'm not worried this time around.

My BP was a bit higher than it had been, but still okay at 113/80. My weight gain which has been steady at 6 pounds every two weeks, has dropped a bit, only 4 pounds in the past two weeks. That puts me at a total of 40. I'm so okay with that, since it's 20 pounds less than I'd gained with Em at this point.

So... I'd been kind of crossing my fingers that I'd hear "nope, your cervix is high hard and closed," so that I could tell myself I still have plenty of time, but now I kind of feel like I should start seriously looking at the To-Do list.

Almost totally effaced? Wow, Kelly! Eek!! As for the u/s, it's kinda fun to get a peek--just be tough about the inaccuracy and reinforce that "big baby" doesn't scare you You'll be fine! (And again I predict that Ozzy will be here long before my guy.)
Wow totally effaced Kelly. I'm not sure that Ozzy willing be staying in there all that much longer.

36 week ultrasound today... Placenta has moved out of the way! AND baby is head down! We'll see our ob on Monday, but everything was measuring right on week-wise. Estimated weight 6 lbs 7 oz.

34 week appt

Baby -3, was 0 on Friday after car wreck. Now can easily accomodate 2 fingers and stretches to 3 fingers.

Having pre-term labor, home on rest with brethane pills. If labor continues/gets worse/breaks through brethane, then we deliver.

34weeks 4 days. GBS status unknown, but allergic to penicillin.

Oh no! good luck!

On the plus side... some 34-almost-35 babies are still a-okay and don't even need a NICU stay. If it comes to that, I hope the same for you!
