Questions about slings in the shower.

Do you shower with your LO? If so, I have a few questions! I'm thinking of getting a water sling for showering at home when DH is not here and can't watch her, or for when we travel, in lieu of putting DD in a hotel bathtub, and also for the pool while traveling.
  • What brand of sling do you have?
  • Solarveil or mesh?
  • How long will it last? (weight of baby)
  • Are water slings supportive enough?
  • What about water in the baby's eyes/ears?
  • Shampoo/conditioner in LO's eyes?

I have a sling that is striped mesh (solid and mesh stripes) that I got from ebay.

It was labeled to 35/40 lbs like most others but my kiddos are skinny so I won't find out.

I have only showered a few times as I mostly use it in the pool. It was supportive enough but the pool water helps.

I didn't have a problem with the shampoo in his eyes as I back into the shower and he is on my front/hip.

We had to work on the water a bit as he would try to put his face in it and then not like it but it wasn't big deal.

I used a Gypsy Mama BB - it is gauze and did not get so bulky when wet. I tied it up in a fwcc. Worked fine but it is my only wrap so I am researching another. I'd get another GMBB but now I know too much and there are sooo many choices out there!!

We used a mesh ring sling. It is relatively easy to keep the water out of their eyes and such - but it also means for a quicker shower for you. We'd often use it to get DS clean, then hand off DS to the other parent waiting outside the shower. DS went through a VERY anti-bath stage.
