Is this normal?

I seem to have a milk duct opening on my areola, I was nursing and trying to do compression and milk squirted from what I though was a freckle or something on my areola! I have very large areola's so they do not fit completely into my ds mouth... Is this normal at all? Anyone else have this? Am I a mutant??

Hmm I am not sure. I don't have that. I do have milk that squirts out of where I had my nipple piercing when I was 16! I guess it never fully healed up. lol

I have managed to express milk from most of my little freckle things now... I am totally amazed and confused!

AlishaLukesMom: I had both nipples pierced and one side of my left nipple squirts milk too! Sometimes I think too much comes out of the nipple for my ds bc he splutters and chokes when let downs happen on that side.

I had a milk blister on mine, large areolas as well, it could be that. I just treated with a little neosporin a number of times throughout the day to promote healing (per my LC part of LLL). I do know they can get painful like any blister that can go untreated if it is constantly being "used". After a few days I was back to normal.

Got a response from my doc... Apparently they leak an anti-microbial substance. Which if right would make sense that it suddenly went into overdrive since I discovered we now have thrush.

I had this after my second baby, but not my first.
I don't know how common it is, but it never caused any problems for me/us.

Ah, Montgomery's glands.
I think that what I had was not that, but a misguided duct opening. I could be wrong, though.

Oh I definitely have a couple at least! I know they're not just Montgomery glands because my left breast lets down and leaks a LOT, and I get a fountain of milk out of my little areola openings! I bet it's not as odd as you think it is, I mean why not? Who ever made a rule that you could only have openings right on the front of your nipples anyway? :P

I didn't have that with my first or second nursling, but have had it with my third and fourth.
