We used (and still use, as needed) Aquaphor. I did check with our ped because she was so little.

Congratulations on your new little one!

I did olive oil when my now 15 day old was going through that dry out phase. Worked great!

My little one has eczema, and that's what her ped recommended (Baby Aquaphor). It works really well, and she hasn't shown any signs of eczema in months.

I really didn't do anything - it went away pretty quickly.

I think it's normal for a baby that young to peel. If the dry skin persists, (my babe's got it bad) you can use unpetroleum as a natural alternative to aquaphor.

I use L'Occitane pure shea butter or L'Occitane mom and baby *balm* (not mom & baby cream, etc. must be the balm). On the Cosmetics Database scale of 0-10 with 0 being the safest, these two are rated a 0.

I used Weleda calendula cream on DD in the early week(s) when she had dry peeling skin. I don't particularly like the smell, but it works great and doesn't irritate her skin. I rubbed it in and the skin peeled off, her body has been nice and smooth since. Now I try to use Weleda or Shaklee baby cream (smells great) daily since it is still dry here with the heat on.
