vinyl covered cotton fabric

How toxic is vinyl covered cotton? I'm looking for an easy to care for tablecloth, and this looks like my best bet but don't like the vinyl aspect of it. Any ideas for alternatives?

Thanks!

No idea - BUT my table cloth solution was to go to the fabric store and buy CLEAR vinyl to put over my numerous lovely seasonal tablecloths. Having kids was rough on the table cloths. I'm toally happy with the high quality clear vinyl. Those fabric backed ones don't last too long and I wasn't too crazy about the patterns.

You can get PEVA tablecloths. It's supposed to be safer than PVC. You can often get nice PEVA shower curtains which might be a cheaper option?

That said, I use oilcloth. I might be slightly concerned if we ate directly off it but we use plates.

Not cheap, but probably the safest choice out there for you.

Sometimes they also have stuff for sale in the outlet, or you can call and ask if they have a remnant you can use for a tablecloth.

vinyl is one of the most toxic things you can have in your home. a vinyl shower curtain offgasses over 100 toxic chemicals, for instance. vinyl is also one of the most earth polluting things to create.
