A Burgess Bird Book Companion

The past few days I've been working non-stop on a companion guide to the wonderful Burgess Bird Book. It took longer than expected, so I'm hoping this can help a mama (or daddy) out if they want to make the most of this book.

The cool part, is that it's all free. The book is in the public domain, and I've linked to all free informational sites

I'm still working on it a little bit, although the hard parts are done. If anyone has any suggestions on extra helpful links to add, please let me know.

Angela, I thought these cards might interest you. We printed them out months ago and laminated them but I could not remember where I got them from. I finally found them a couple of minutes ago at That Resource Site, a site for Catholic homeschoolers.

Burgess Bird Cards Set 1 There are 9 sets total. Scroll down to the "Novel Studies" section to find the links to all of the sets.

Jessica, thank you so much! What a great resource!

I am in the process of making similar cards, but without any words on them, and with pictures not from the book, so we can practice identifying the birds. I estimate it will take me all day. But since these are pictures taken from WhatBird, I don't think I can share them for use with others, unless I pay for a license.

Those look great! I am totally blind, though, and don't see a link to "Novel Studies" on the home page...

ETA: Never mind, I found them under the Montessori link. Here's a link for anyone else that had trouble like me.

It took me awhile, but then I clicked "Book Studies" and then I was able to find it.

Oops, it's on the Montessori Cards part......I think this is the exact link.

A fun thing I just discovered is that you can make your own professional bird book using the WhatBird Make a Guide website! There's a demo mode where you can make a book of 5 birds. Once that turned out very cool, I bought their 3-month subscription for $9.95 and came out with a pretty sweet book.

I also just got iBird Pro for the iPhone, I love it!

Awesome! I tried it, though, and still haven't received the link to my pdf. It's been about 5 minutes, so hopefully it will come at some point!

If you make one with a subscription, how many birds can you have in your book?
