Top Down Hat Pattern

I remember someone posted a pattern a while ago. The top of the hat kind of swirled (the increases made a swirling pattern). It was a free pattern. I can't find it though . . . anyone remember/know what I'm talking about?

Well, knitting or crochet? And what did the swirling pattern look like? A top-down pattern with increases that make a swirling pattern isn't exactly rare--I've even made one. (Dunno if I posted it online or not, though.)

You can make a very simple top-down hat with a swirling pattern on it just by having your increases be (in knitting) yarn-overs or (in crochet) chain-1s. So where you'd either knit into the front & back of a stitch or double-crochet (or single or whatever) into the same stitch twice, your increase would have either the yarn over or chain one instead of the second stitch. Even something that simple could be very pretty. Here are pictures of the hat I made for Esther: back (sorry it's kinda blurry) & front. You see that just putting in a space gives kind of a spiral/star effect.

Oh, thanks. It's knitting. LoL . . . I'm a relatively new knitter so I am not that good at designing. Crochet, I can easily design things . . . I don't know . . . I have a mental block when it comes to designing in knitting. So if I used a yo as the increase as opposed to a kfb, I would get a swirl. Thanks!
