On Progresterone supplements... a question.

I had a very early m/c in January at 5 weeks. My ob thinks it was likely due to a progresterone deficiency since it was such an early loss so she went ahead and prescribed 200 mg of prometrium for when I started TTC again. I o'ed last Thursday and began the prometrium Friday night. Problem is, I assumed one of the symptoms I would "feel" from the extra progesterone would be sore nips/bb's. My nips began getting very sore on Friday but now the soreness/sensitivity is already starting to go away. Granted I'm only 5 or so days past ovulation but I assumed that since I'm adding the extra dose of prometrium it would stay with me or get stronger as I get the 2WW. Any ideas or suggestions?

Progesterone doesn't always give you sore boobs. And, although it's a common pregnancy symptom, I never had it when I was pregnant with DS and I was on progesterone suppositories during my entire first trimester.

i agree with dana. have not had any sore boobage at all on progesterone 200 mg vag supps. however, i'm guessing there is more to the story than in your post, because i dont know why a doc would assume it's a prog deficiency based on a 5 wk loss. there is as good a chance that it was something along the lines of a blighted ovuum as anything else at that stage, unless you have had other problems in the past? progesterone is very safe, so it's not likely to hurt anything either way, maybe that's the thought?

Well, the doc put me on it more as a precaution. The loss was SOOO early we never even got to see a gestational sac and by the time I was done bleeding everything was gone. So yeah, I think because it's not harmful she wanted to give me the supps to rule that out for future pregnancies.

Lordy does it make me tired, though. I have to take it around 8:00 at night to give it enough time to work through while I sleep so I don't walk around in a fog the next day.

try taking it vaginally- you will have less side effects and it is more effective because it absorbs directly into the uterus. My Peri told me to do this.
