Our almost 1 year old has started waking up at around 3am bright eyed and ready to play. This lasts for about an hour then she fights going back to sleep before succumbing. Any idea why this would happen or how to break the cycle. I fear it's becoming part of the routine and DH and I are very, very tired.

wish I had an answer as well
My 8 month old will do this if I put her down for the night before 11pm. She'll wake up at 1am, ready to party and fight sleep untill around 3am.
If I let her nap around 9pm (@ 30 min) and go to bed later, closer to 12:30 or 1am...She'll sleep straight through untill 9-10am
I just go with what she prefers (and what gives us the longest block of sleep) for now since I don't have to get her up early for any reason.
