merino sweater longies aren't absorbing!

So, I finally made Ladybug a pair of longies from the merino wool sweater that I got for free from a friend because it had a tiny moth hole in it. It wasn't the prettiest color, but oh so soft, so I intended these for nap time (figured it was too thin for night). I did not felt the sweater because it wasn't very large and I didn't want to shrink it even more. I did lanolize the longies very well.

Ladybug woke up from her nap and the longies were soaking wet! Thankfully the bed wasn't wet, but I have never had a wool soaker feel so wet. She was wearing two flats folded up in Gaynor's fold, which is what I usually do for night (except then I also add a doubler).

Any ideas? Should I just felt the already made longies and use them for the next baby?

I find w/ recycled wool longies that I have to put an extra layer in the wet zone. you can just attach a rectangular piece if felted lanolized wool to the front & back of the waist band.

Also sometimes new longies need to be lanolized twice

I agree that you could just add a layer in the inside of the wet zone (something felted). I have noticed that some of my sweater pants are more absorbent than others - my preference being Gap 100% lambswool Zoe lived in the orange and maroon ones this winter. I just cut down the orange ones to make shorts today - so far, I'm in love!

Sometimes, they feel slightly damp, but not "wet".
