30 Month well check...Teeth

Took DS for his 30 month check. Pretty uneventful. Doctor said that DS gives acts like he is 4.5 more than 2.5. Proud mommy momment...but that isn't really what I am here for. He checked his teeth...said they look great...no two year molars yet but they are visable under the gum so any day now. I said I wasn't sure if they had broke through or not because he never had teething symptoms with any of his teeth. He said "Oh of course he wouldn't...teething symptoms is an old wives tale." I was like, HUH? He is a great doctor and I would take any advice a doctor gave me with a grain of salt anyway. So if there are NO teething symptoms than why are moms around the world thinking that there are? Do you think there are? Did your baby display signs of teething?

Too bad no one informed my 17 m/o old that her teething symptoms are old wives tales. It would have made my life a lot easier.

I have to say that my first did not have many/any signs of teething. My second did for sure. Just like everything else, varies from kid to kid.

DD is a very cranky baby when she is getting a tooth, nothing makes her happy, she doesn't want to be held or put down, she chews on her hands, sophie, and anything else in reach, and her sleep gets all messed up! that is just the tip of the issues! Your Dr should come to my house while she's teething, that will change his tune!

Umm, really?

My DD was an easy teether. AND she got all of them early and bunches at a time.

However, she still had symptoms; hands in mouth, slightly fussy, gnawing everything, low grade fever with a few, etc.

Silly doctors. Just ask a mama about kids. They know much better.

Apparently no one told DS about this. This last round (TWO YEAR MOLARS ARE IN BEFORE THE TWO YEAR MARK! WE'RE DONE! WHOOOOOOOOOOOO!), he was finally verbal enough to tell us exactly what was wrong. He was acting obnoxiously fussy, so I asked, "What's wrong?" He answered, "Teef hurt. This one ouch," and pointed.

I can remember when my wisdom teeth were trying to come in for months. I was miserable. I chewed on pen caps. My jaw ached. No teething symptoms?
I'm not buying it.
