How to get DD to drink anything... worried about dehydration

yesterday DD had a moderate temperature and was in a horrible mood most of the day. today she is back to normal temp but still feeling really vulnerable and is clingy (even more so than yesterday).
i'm thinking she's teething???

ANYWAYS, she nursed once last night, since then, does not want to nurse, does not want any water, juice, or ice. i've offered it to her in her sippy cup, our fancy cups, her play cups but nothing works.

this morning her diaper wasn't very full and had SUPER concentrated urine. getting worried. any advice?? its so hard to see your baby feeling so bad.

Have you tried finely crushed ice or something shaped like a popsicle? If your DD is avoiding stuff in her mouth because her mouth hurts ibuprofen may help.

i could definitely try that. are there any telltale signs to know that her mouth hurts? she's only 20 mos so she can't verbalize that yet.

Is she drooling a lot? Mine had what was probably herpangina for a week last November (23mo at the time) and the first sign was drooling and crappy sleep. Then his mouth filled up with sores. He did eventually start drinking but he had to get really thirsty first. Meantime I was dropper-feeding him coconut water to keep him hydrated. He refused nursing for 5 days and then started back up again right as my milk was starting to dry up (I'm useless at pumping).

That week was hell on earth. Fingers crossed it's not that.

you can try teething tablets (for the worst pain we'd give DS more than the bottle recommended (4-6) b/c you can't overdose on Hyland's Teething Tablets). Give her a dose of motrin and see what happens (from what you're describing I'd go this route first over the teething tablets).

When you can get her to take in liquids, I would suggest pushing an electrolyte drink first (pedialyte or gatorade). THEN water. NO JUICE as it has sugar and can cause further dehydration. Maybe when she's sleeping you can wake her gently and get her to drink a little.

Breastmilk in a dropper or straw. Something that doesn't require work. There was one round of teeth on DS where is hurt him to suck (nurse).

If you ask her yes/no questions will she respond? Ie "Does your mouth hurt /have an owie?" "Ears?"

Ear infection would be my next thought but I would guess she's also refuse food (chewing)

How high was her fever?
