Babywearing in the rain

Hi mamas! Spring is around the corner and, while the weather is getting warmer, the rain is falling. I am eager to get out on walks and would prefer to keep wearing DD instead of putting her in the stroller with a rain cover.

Anyone have tips or tricks for babywearing in the rain (preferably no umbrellas involved)?

TIA!

Well, I always used an umbrella. I would often wedge it in the carrier so I did not have to carry it. I did not want to use a poncho, and once my babe was too big to front carry, a raincoat would not have fit over us.

If you can still front carry, I'd get an oversized raincoat, put it on over you both and put a big rain hat on the baby.

I definitely recommend a good rain hat. You could use a sleeping hood if your carrier has one, but it's probably not waterproof. Also, consider that your child's feet and legs should be covered somehow because they will get wet if not under your raincoat, and that's a pain.

I've always wanted to try something like this rain poncho.

What I use now is a raincoat that fits over me and my front-carried babe (and covers his legs and feet), with the babe in an additional baby rain poncho (which covers his head and the rest of the carrier). Unfortunately this only works when its not raining too hard. If its really coming down I get rain down my cleavage .

We lived in Ireland for a year and a half, where it rains plenty. I used a Suse's Kinder Coat plus an umbrella when the weather was cooler, and just an umbrella in warm weather. If you wanted to skip the umbrella, you could put the baby in a raincoat and hat, too.

When it rained really hard, I'd duck inside a shop or under cover.

I kind of like the idea of a rain hat. Anyone know where to find a super cute rain hat?
