Help me brainstorm things to keep 14mo DS quiet during church! - Page 2

We got a magnetic book that DD loves to play with. And if you go to a place like Hobby Lobby, they have those foamy things where the back peels off and you can stick the pieces on. We got a big bucket of those and things to put them on. Something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Alex-Toys-458G...8341297&sr=1-5

Church is the only time she gets it, so it's quite fun and exciting for her.

Our church has a Mothers' Room for nursing, but even when he's tired, but the time we get there, he's jazzed up and exploring the room, and will. not. nurse. Or, he'll nurse for 2 secs, then go explore. The only way we can get him to sleep at church now is for DH to put him in the Ergo and walk around.

Our church is nursery-free, like some of the pps. We've been there since DS1 (6.5) was an infant.

I would stop the juice and fruit asap Very energizing foods for a little fellow!
Also, I know it sounds odd, but I've learned thanks to my littles that toys, crayons, even sippys with water make them more active. It's like once they get in an active and "doing" state in their heads, it's hard to get them in a more chill state of mind. Distracting and new toys, etc will just snowball into never ending activity for the whole fam, in my experience.

I would recommend a good, hardy breakfast for both of you; get yourself into a peaceful and confident state of mind, remember he'll feed off your energy; take nothing into church except maybe a single book or soft doll, and keep your expectations of an 18 month old staying totally quiet realistic.

Best of luck!
