real quick, possibly dumb question...

I'm needing to supplement and the lactation aid like the ones seen on Dr. Jack Newman's site seem like the best option.

Does anyone know where I can find the feeding tube he uses? He says they use a #5 French, 36 inch or 93 cm long tube inserted into a bottle with larger hole in the nipple. Do I just make one of my existing bottles one that will work for this or do I buy a nipple that will work with the tube when I buy the tube?

Thanks for your help.

Do you have the tube already? You can just stick it threw any bottle nipple. Sometimes you have to sqeeze the nipple to get it threw but it will go.

If you don't have the tube call around to your local LLL leaders sometimes they have them purchased in advance of a mom needing them.

You should be able to email him and get it from his sight. Thats how the LLL leader I know got it.

Hope that helps.

Thank you for the info!

I would call some medical supply places or your doctor's office about the tube.
But you can also buy commercially-prepared units, such as the Medela SNS, which is available through LCs, online or at some drugstores, or (better yet for long-term use) the Lact-Aid, which is sold online.
Both are going to be more expensive than the tube but I've always wondered how you clean it.
Good luck, mama.

Also, the tube from Jack Newman is a stiffer tube, and if you do need to supplement for a longer time period the tubes that come with the sns is much softer. Just a FYI
