Ok Ladies... it's about that time ... religious exemption.. please help

Wow ... it's hard to believe my "baby boy" will be 4 in just a little over a month He's growing up soooo fast .... anyway, my ex and I have decided to put him in pre-school for at least a few days a week, mainly for the interaction with other children, teachers ect. He has stayed with my mother and father since he was 6 yrs old when we work. If it weren't for the interaction, I probably wouldn't bother, because, not being partial, but he is very very smart and advanced for his age, which I totally attribute the fact that his mommy Proudly nursed him for over 2 yrs and he has never been vaccinated ... I'm sure all the attention he gets doesn't hurt either lol . Anyway ... The one place I would like to send him and called to check info on today is through the city school system where we live, of course she went thru the whole rundown of what to bring to registration, one of them being shot records. So, I asked if they had religious exemption forms and her reply was "Umm .. yes but we really don't do much with the kids here that deals with religion" .... Umm K, well that's not what I was referring to. when I told her I was talking in reference to vaccinations, she said she wasn't really sure about that kind of thing, the school nurse would probably know ... 1st Am I correct in thinking because it is a public school they have to accept a religious exemption and 2nd should I prepare myself to get a letter saying he wasn't accepted for some other reason and the underlying reason being because of the shots (or lack thereof) She said basically what they do is a small amount of testing on the child on day of registration and then send you a letter saying whether the child is accepted or not. I am concerned they will not accept him for the vaccination issue but use another reason to camouflage it. If they take children based on how advanced they are, I have no doubt he will be accepted, if it's the other way around, then that may be the reason they give and say "Well, we feel your child doesn't need our services blah blah blah" ect. SOOOO... if any of you lovely ladies could send some good vibes, helpful info or whatever this way it would be MUCH appreciated. (AND just for the record, the ex was all about not doing shots until his family got ahold of him and ever since, he's been weird about it, saying he's worried about J catching something, so he's of course gonna go on and on about how we should have vaccinated him so he could get into school)

Sincerely,
Sad mommy (because her baby is growing up)

I am in TN to all you need to do is go to your local health dept. and ask for the religious exemption form. Once you get it put your name and your kids name on there and turn it in instead of the vax record. The school wont have them you have to get it from the health dept or actually you can print your own out at home and use it.

It is super easy and dont let the school give you a hard time about it either they are not allowed to ask you about your religion in any way.

Here is the form that I used:
Quote:
18/01/03

School Name
Address

REF: Submission for religious Exemption from Vaccination for: (Full name of Child, date of birth).

Dear (name of director or designee):

(we/I) (First and last name(s)), as the Parent of the above named child are exercising our rights under the First Amendment of the US Constitution and Tennessee Statutes TCA 49-6-5001 (b)(2) to receive Religious Exemption from Vaccination.

I am fully aware of the risks of not vaccinating as described by the Centers for Disease Control, The American Academy of Pediatrics, and the American Medical Association.

However, I have sincere religious beliefs that prohibit us from submitting to and receiving vaccinating agents.

Respectfully,

Here is another type you can use http://www.state.tn.us/education/sch...ormED-5379.pdf
Back a few years ago they had a form that needed to be noterized (no big deal having it noterized was free) but they no longer have that one it is just a very simple form.

The process of school enrollment with religious exemption is not complicated. It’s just that most folks in the school/childcare/camp bureaurocracies don’t know anything about it, like the woman you spoke with, so they are full of mis-information and trying to protect themselves. Here’s the facts: There are faiths that don’t permit vaxing (Christian Science being the most well known) and most public schools have a few kids with religious exemptions enrolled. Normally the only people who know anything about exemptions are the registrar and the school nurse. Often the registrar is the only person who understands the exemption, and if s/he is new to the job, they too may be confused. So you have to educate yourself. The state regulations are usually on-line with the form, just read them.

This is my method: get your exemption form and fill it out. It will tell you what you need to do, such as if your state requires a letter from a pastor. Do what it says you have to do. Don't try to discuss exemptions with anyone but the registrar. When you speak to the registrar, do not provide any more information than you have to! It’s none of their business why you don’t vax, or what faith you profess. You do not need to justify your actions. Be confident, pleasant, and positive. When you go to enroll your child & get the paperwork done, hire a sitter. This way if you run into a snag, you can deal with it without little ears hearing the whole thing.

Our kids have had exemptions in Virginia, Washington, New Mexico, and in military schools overseas. In every case we’d done our homework (read the regulations and filled out the paperwork correctly) and all we had to do was walk in, hand over the forms, and walk out. You may have to point out the exemption form when they ask for the shot records. If there are any questions, ask to speak to the registrar.

I'm in OH, but I just went to NVIC and printed out the form for OH exemptions and turned it in when I gave them DS1's birth cert/ss card/application. They copied it and that was that One of them had an additional little form that you checked for refusing vaxes or foods and a quick statment as to why ( I wrote "against personal beliefs")

Deleted my post after doing some investigating- there are new forms, but the requirements are pretty much the same. Only a signed letter from a parent/guradian is needed, as seen on the links here.
