What do I do with the wet diapers?

We've done our first whole day of cloth diapering today, and now not sure what to do!

We are using Grobaby, which has the snap-in replaceable soaker pads (We've gone through 2 of these pads today), Motherease Bamboo OS dipes with a cover (We've gone through 2 dipes today), and prefolds with cover, (gone through 2, plus one hemp doubler). All of these that we've gone through today, I've just hung on the line to let dry, which most have not yet(all these were wet btw)

So after I'm done changing her, what do I do with the wet parts? Like the soaker pads in the Grobaby...I can't remember if I'm supposed to wash them after they get wet, or can I just let them line dry/dry in the dryer? I remember something about urine being clean enough to just let dry...or is that only in wool? Right now, I don't have all my dipes, they are being shipped, so I don't have enough to throw in a pail and clean every other day, I have just enough to get through all day basically.

Thanks in advance!

I think you're probably thinking of wool: wool covers have antimicrobial properties that keep them from getting stinky after getting urine on them, but wool is also somewhat water repellent. So the wool isn't actually soaking up tons of pee.

You'll need to wash everything that soaked up urine (or poo, of course) after a single use. Basically, if it's absorbent, you can only use it once before washing it.

Awesome! That's what I was thinking, but then the info overload got confused in my brain! Off to do a load of laundry!

Oh, wanted to share that DH folded and snappi'ed his first prefold today, and did an amazing job! I was super impressed!

Thanks so much!

Congrats on your first day of successful cloth diapering! I remember my first day diapering my newborn DS and how good it felt to be covering his bum in something so natural and healthy.

Regarding hanging the wet diapers to dry, they actually used to do this in our great-grandparents' day! Fastidious people like my great-grandmother would only do this once, and then wash them, but other less fastidious people would just hang them to dry over and over again.

You also don't have to wash them all at the end of the day; I chuck all mine into the diaper pail and do a load of dipes every 2-3 days.

My goodness. You learn something every day. I had no idea!
