Onesies have fire retardant?

Hi,

I am aware that children's sleepware are treated with fire retardant. Baby onesies are supposed to be sleepware, therefore also treated with fire retardant? There isn't really much distinction between onesies and pajamas when it comes to babies. How do you tell if one is treated with fire retardant or not? To be on the safe side, I was thinking of getting rid of all the onesies, but then what a waste....I know some brands, Gap and old navy would say they are not flame resistant. Thanks.

Sleepwear is treated only if it isn't tight. So those tight cotton pjs are not treated with flame retardants. Onesies are not marketed as sleepwear, however, so I believe they are not treated.

My understanding also is that small infant clothing/jammies is not treated because those children are not mobile and are thus less likely to catch themselves on fire.

I believe clothing doesn't start being treated until the 9 mo size
