How could my 9 month old get Roseola?

I exclusively breastfeed her, but she still got it. My 2 year old daughter never got it so I'm a bit confused.

DS1 got it too around 7 m/o and he was also EBF. My understanding is that BF will confer some immunity, but does not guarantee that a child will not get the disease (or any other for that matter). And as far as I know, roseola is pretty common and not usually a big deal.

Roseola is extremely contagious, and can be spread even by someone who has no symptoms. It's so common that virtually every child has been exposed by the time they're 5, even if they don't show symptoms. And it's almost always very mild and self-limiting. It's spread by contact with saliva or mucus, usually on somebody's hands. You may have picked it up from somebody (at a store or wherever) and then passed it to your LO, or your LO may have touched something and then put her hands in her nose or mouth.

Chances are the 2 year old had it, and just never was symptomatic. You might have seen a touch of crankiness for a day or two, or maybe not even that. Not everybody who's exposed gets the full-blown illness.

Breastfeeding is not a guarantee that a child won't get sick, especially an illness like this that is so contagious and so prevalent.

I wouldn't worry another minute about it, honestly.
