My vagina!

I figured that would get some attention

I'm pregnant with #2 and this pregnancy has been so much more physical. Energy level is great and I'm feeling okay, but I have this weird "vaginal" pain. That's the best I can describe it -- midwife had mentioned UTI but that's not it, and last night it got bad [I actually called her, but came here too] and I cried out "AHH" which I never do.

It feels like...I had sex a hundred times in a row. Sore, painful when I stand up, or move, just this weird painful sore pressure? it's so hard for me to describe. I've had ultrasounds etc and everything is fine so it may be stretching or veins or something but I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts OR has had this pain?

Some days it's killer, some not so much.

Totally got my attention

My first thought was some sort of infection. I would look at being tested for a UTI just because sometimes those manifest in weird ways but if you have one you need to address it so it doesn't spread. Could be some sort of vaginal infection too--maybe bacteria?

I've been tested for a UTI and everything else, and nothing

sounds painful!

I'm sorry I have no specific advice, just wanted to say I hope it goes away! I would think if you have been tested for infection of all kinds, the only thing it could be is perhaps the baby is sitting on a ligament or vein like you said. How far along are you?

I don't think this is probably it, because what you're describing sounds like it's on the inside. But I had SPD with dd2's pregnancy and let me tell you, it was super painful! So check it out and see if it sounds like what's going on?

Are you sure you don't have uterine fibroids? They will cause pelvic pressure.

Look at the blue section for pregnancy.

Is it your cervix (which could be tender from pregnancy) or your vaginal canal?

It could be varicose veins, because of increased pressure.

Is it a sharp pain or an achy pain?

How mysterious! Hrm, ok. So you've ruled out UTI, and you're not describing irritation or discharge, so I'd say it doesn't sound yeasty or bacterial in nature.

It's not in the uterus, so I'd say probably not ligament pain or fibroids or the like. Not in the cervix, so not stretching or swelling there.

Did the m/w do a vaginal exam? I've heard of rare cases of varicosities affecting the vagina, due to changes in blood flow, etc. I'd think a bimanual exam or speculum exam could pick up on those kinds of things.

It could also be something related to neuropathy, perhaps the way the baby's laying or the like. Nerve pain can be brutal, for sure.

This isn't related to constipation or the like, ja? Because of course the proximity would make a rectal concern something to rule out, as well.

And the least popular answer of all -- it may just be that in a subsequent preganncy, things are *different*. Parts have stretched and moved and rearranged, and with the addition of hormones impacting blood flow and of course, the physical pressure of the pregnancy, it's uncomfortable at best.

Have you switched soaps, shampoos, laundry detergent or anything like that? Are you using panty liners? Are your underthings made up of synthetic material? I know that I am SUPER reactive to synthetic anything in contact with my lady tenders. I had to switch to mama-cloth because the conventional pads gave me a feeling that sounds very similar to what you are experiencing(though I am not preg. currently). All the way on the inside, not just the outer contact area. I have the same issue with cleansers and laundry detergent. It might just be inflammation from a new substance. Or maybe because of pregnancy you developed a sensitivity to something you have always used. And it might not be something you are using... Your SO might have incorporated a new product and it could be rubbing off.

Varicose vein would be my next guess. I had one on my right outer labia during the second half of my last pregnancy that just killed me. You might try red raspberry leaf tea... It helps tone your uterine and feminine muscles, and I believe it also helps tone blood vessels. It might help if the pressure you are feeling is just frtom fatigued muscles or blown veins. Start out slowly though, as it has a pretty pronounced effect. Nothing dangerous, though. It also helps speed up birth(stronger muscles) when you little one is ready to come.

I'm going to read your links, thanks ladies

And, no I'm not using any new soap and I def don't use any scented laundry, panty liners or anything like that! I was thinking it could be a vein and another friend pointed me to a link for SPD so I'll look into that too, and of course see my midwife

I am thinking veins as well, a girlfriend of mine is currently dealing with that..ouch!

I had this sort of pain with my last pregnancy and could not find any cause other than being pregnant and the pressure of the baby pushing down .

Hope you find some comfort soon.
