Sweaty baby!

DS sweats quite frequently- even when it's cool and he's appropriately dressed. He is perfectly content in a soaker and a t-shirt, even on frigid nights (with no blanket). I feel like (and I'm sure look like) I'm wayyy underdressing him, but I feel so bad when he sweats. I mean, I HATE being hot and sweating, so I feel like I should do my best to make sure he's comfortable and not sweaty, even if it means wearing minimal clothes. He's around the 40% so he's not a very fat baby...but DD was a fat baby and not sweaty. Hmmm...

Are there any other sweaty babies out there? Is this a boy thing?

My DS1 was a big ol' sweat head. His lil bro isn't far behind! It's like sleeping with three furnaces at night, if you count DH too! Runs in the family. I don't know if it has anything to do with being a boy, but I think it has to do with genes for sure.

Could be some genes at work there I guess. I can tend to sweat a lot and our son does sweat quite a bit for a newborn I guess, but he mostly only gets really wet when he falls asleep nursing or cuddling up with DP. Although sometimes he can get a little sweaty just being swaddled, but we've made sure we don't overdress him before swaddling and this seems better now. My dad sweats a lot, too, as do most men I know. So, maybe it's part being a boy, maybe it's part genetic, and part of it I'm sure is just being a baby with poor body temperature regulation. DP is Korean and aside from during pregnancy she doesn't really sweat much at all so any genetics involved here I guess definitely come from dad.

My DS is like this too. I'll be FREEZING with a robe and thick socks on, and DS will be wearing a diaper and a t-shirt with some socks, and he'll still be warm and sweaty.

I def think its genetic! Because DH says I'm 'not cold' when I tell him its cold in the house.. I'll be bundled up and he'll be wearing a pair of shorts or something. Looks like DS is gonna be the same way.

I don't know why some babies are like that either- but for what it's worth my 7 mo. old son is the same way. I'll be bundled under a down comforter and another comforter on top... and he is just in a diaper with no blankets next to me, and there is a huge wet spot on the bed from all his sweat. My daughter was never sweaty. I didn't even know babies COULD sweat!

Does being Korean have anything to do with sweating? DP is also Korean.

ETA: I just googled it and it looks like maybe depending on race, you can actually have a different amount of sweat glands? Or differently developed sweat glands. Crazy!

DS is a sweaty baby too! DH and I aren't particularly hot-blooded so I'm not sure where this came from. We called DS the heat rock in utero b/c DH and I would sweat at night from how hot my belly was. So he's always been this way. ;-)
