Babywearing and naps

I have an 8 week old who loves loves loves the sling and the ergo carrier we have. He spends most of the day in it, including his naps. I am going back to work soon, and know that at the day-care, they will want him to take naps in the crib. Any advice on how to help him start the transition? I will put him in the crib once he is sleeping, but he inevitably wakes up within 10 minutes. When in the sling, he will get long, wonderful naps. If you've been successful with this, please let me know!

Thank you

I'm hoping to transition DS2 soon, so sorry, no real advice, especially since I failed miserably with DS1 and he was still napping on me at 2. But I do find that I can sometimes take DS2 out of the Ergo when he's fast asleep (after at least 20 mins. of walking) and nurse him down (I guess you could try a pacifier or bottle, when with caregivers.) He'll wake up briefly, then sometimes go back to sleep for about 30-45 minutes. But not always...resulting in a crabby, tired baby. I only attempt it if I need him to sleep elsewhere than on me. Good luck!

My first napped on me or fell asleep in the carrier and then I put him into bed too.

I went back to work 2days/wk when he was 1.5yrs and my friend watched him. She would rub his back for him until he fell asleep. He didn't fuss with her like he would for me. Maybe your wee one will do the same. It also made a big difference for him going down for naps and bedtime at home.

Do you have someone else who could help out with putting him down for naps without using the carrier to 'practise' for daycare?
