Childcare in Anchorage

Hi momma,

Ok, so I had to make the decision to go back to work, and I have a 4y.o. I will need full time childcare for. I am starting to freak out. I've been in contact with thread (childcare connection) and have a list of homes/centers...but I am not impressed. Does anyone have any recommendations and ones to avoid? You can PM if you want. At this point, I might even go out of my way if I have to, but I am in Nunaka Valley, I drop my older son off downtown and then will make my way down C St. to Raspberry Rd. So anywhere along that route would be preferable...but I'm getting desperate.

Thanks!

No personal experience, but my SIL used Spenard Kiddy Drop and was decently satisfied with them. I hope you find a provider that makes you & your kiddo(s) comfortable.

my neighbor runs an in home day care down here in Scenic Park. Kinda out of your way though.

My 2 year old DS is at Hillcrest Childrens Center on gov't hill (baby girl starting there in 3 weeks) - It's fairly convenient to get to from downtown and then buzz down C St., but would be slightly out of way. I'm happy with them - and DS loves it.

DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER SUNFLOWER. They are horrible.

Mistee - Good luck. A friend of mine just moved her son to Midnight Sun Montessori. They are hoping to move into the Airport Heights neighborhood (in the fall I think) which would also be on your commute route.

PM me if you want any more info - from a parent - after you talk to Hillcrest.
