Did anyone see on the news the story about HFCS?

I live in NJ & on CBS tonight there was a story about HFCS.

It basically stated that it is the same thing as sugar. It just comes from corn.

I dont know if I buy that, but I really never educated myself on the stuff. I just avoid it.

Opinions??

Its basicly the same as sugar in the same way that splenda is - highly processed. And its virtually all from GMO corn. Of course, soon (maybe already?) most regular sugar will be from gmo beats/sugar cane.

Yeah just like sugar...except more highly processed and loaded with mercury. YUM! Wonder how much the corn syrup manufacturers paid to get that story done?

This is why I don't believe anything from mainstream news channels. I believe they have hidden agendas, and they never tell the truth. They are not impartial or unbiased at all.
Like when they told us that mercury in vaccines is "good" for kids. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZArebYZzdc The first thing we all need to do is turn off the news. It is full of lies.

Then there are the ads on tv put out by the Corn Refiners Association telling us not to worry. Think it might be in response to the bad press they've been getting lately? I avoid HFCS if at all possible as my understanding is that your body does not process it the way it processes sugar.

I have read that's it's the same (or can be the same) makeup as regular sugar, ie the same percentage of glucose and fructose. I've also read that our bodies "see" it differently, and it's not recognized as "sugar". When we eat regular sugar, our bodies know to limit it, and after enough it tells us we've had enough. Not the case for hfcs.

Also, not sure if this would affect many people if you're not sensitive to sulfites, but I read that all processed corn starts out with a soak in sulfur dioxide (which either converts or is seen by the body as sulfites, not sure which). However, I guess as the corn gets more processed, there is less and less sulfites left. So hfcs wouldn't have that much compared to corn starch.
Probably not useful info, but I found it interesting nonetheless. hehe
