TTC after Mirena

This is my first post in a long long time. I used to post here years ago, when I was ttc my middle child, but forgot my old username. I haven't used the email address I used to register with in years, either. Anyways, I'm ttc #4 right now. I had my iud taken out on Tuesday. Since then I've had some light spotting and EWCM mixed with blood, but nothing that looks like a period. I wasn't planning on using opks yet, until I got a real period, but a friend of mine just got a BFP and gave me some she had left over. I got a fairly light line yesteday and a much darker line this morning.

The line this morning wasn't positive, but it was definitely darker than the one yesterday. I really need to read up on the opks again. It's been a long time since I've used them. So I do have a specific question--is it possible to actually ovulate so soon after having the Mirena taken out?

When in your cycle did they take it out?

I know when I got my IUD (paraguard) out they did it during my period so it would be easier and not interrupt my cycles

I haven't really had periods since I got the Mirena about two and a half years ago. Sometimes I'll get light spotting, but it never lasts more than a few days and it's neveer enough for a tampon or pad. I was spotting when it was taken out, but that doesn't mean much. I dont' think I was ovulating while I had it.

Oh wow! Ok, well I would probably lean towards your hormones regulating themselves due to the lack of the Merina being in more than ovulation, but I have had friends who have gotten pregnant a few weeks after getting the iud out so it could be possible!

Honestly, I'd probably wait to do the opk's and such until you got your period back and go off of that, but its totally up to you and what you are comfortable with

i didnt have af for 3 1/2 years on mirena. i have no idea how often i ovulated if at all (but the manufacturer is quite clear that mirena may not interfere with ovulation.)

i had some light bleeding when my doc pulled it out that lasted 2 days. she told me she pinched my cervix (and i did feel it, oh yeah) when she was trying to grab the (too short) string, so i dont know how much of that was cervical blood and how much was withdrawal bleeding from getting the progesterone out (but mirena puts out a miniscule amt of prog.)

in any case, i o'd 11 days after it was out. have you ever temped before? that's the easiest way to know if you o. the mirena folks say to expect to o within 6 wks after removal. if you dont have an af by 6-8 wks, they say to take a hpt. if you want to start temping and checking opks you might figure it out sooner, but likely you will either get af in the next few weeks (and then you can start keeping track with a clear starting point) or you might get pg.
good luck!

You could be Oing. I ovulated four days after mine was removed. I only had some spotting when it was removed.

Thanks ladies. I will probably lay off the opks. I am an insmoniac, so temping never works for me. I'm still sort of spotting. NOt really having a real period. I'm a little bit nervous because I have three kids and conceived each of them the second month I tried, but my partner doesn't have any kids. He's almost 40. He's never treid to have kids so he doesn't know that he can't, it just seems unlikely to me that he's never even accidentally gotten someone pregnant. He was married for ten years and she was on the pill the whole time, though. I don't know. I probably shouldn't stress out too much yet!

I have an appointment with my gynecologist for a followup in a few weeks because there were some cysts on my cervix. She said they were ntohing to worry about, though. I'll have more questions for her then, I guess.
