Question for Fluffy Moms.

When will my B belly (think rolls!) turn into a D belly (one bump)?
In my experience, the "B" versus "D" has to do with body type as much as being overweight. I've been normal weight and overweight during various pregnancies and it was actually during my lowest-weight pregnancy that I had the "B" shape. At heavier weights, I never did...

Im fluffy and already looking more pregnant than just fat... its just how I carry.

Yet I have friends that made it quite a ways before they stopped looking like they were overeating and started looking actually pregnant...

So I agree, its all up to your body.

secret is in the shirt!

If you want to accelerate the B to D transition, I highly suggest shirts gathered under the bust. The pregnancy blouses that are just sort of oversized make me look oversized. The other sort make my pregnant belly (at least last two times) pop. I've noticed the same thing in other women. Before I thought they were...fluffy...they wore a gathered shirt and I said "wow! she's preggers!"

I haven't really paid attention this time, but last time, it was around 28 weeks.

I agree it has a lot to do with body type. For me it happens around 18 weeks.

I'll also say body type but also think that different pregnancies yield different results. I've been overweight in all my pregnancies and have carried very different with each. With my first two I was always a B type belly. With my last one and this one, I showed pretty quickly and looked pregnant (and fluffy but what can you do?)

I also think that certain shirts make it more obvious. For me it's been fitted shirts that show off my bump the most. I wear them with the Bebe band from Target which smoothes my lumps and emphasizes the important bump:P

The empire-waisted shirts with the flowy bottom parts are what made the difference for me until I was further along.

I'll agree to this. The empire waist and flowiness seem to accent the top part of the bump (so the bottom part of your belly is sort of hidden in the folds) as opposed to the tight shirts that show where rolls are.

And for me it was around 28 weeks.

I always kept the B bump, bit of a drag.

When wearing fitted shirts that showed off my bump, I sometimes would lay a sock on the indent to make a D. Kind of like how a girl might stuff her bra.

It seems as though this pregnancy will be the same.

I'm at 27 weeks and still have the B belly. I swear the top just keeps getting bigger while the bottom doesn't! I don't even think I look that pregnant sometimes.

I think mine tends to become a D around the time my uterus actually goes obve the indent of the B part (if that makes sense).

I'm 33 weeks and it's a D shape though there is a very slight indentation at the belly button level.

I think it probably depends on how much weight you carry on your tummy. My tummy's been pretty awful since my first pregnancy and developed an 'apron' that it never had before. ugh.

For some of us, it never goes away. My dream has always been to have a pgcy where I'd get that beautiful round belly, but it's not looking like it will ever happen. Though, I'm thinking maternity Spanx are a pretty good idea... wonder if they'll be comfortable for daily wear?

The closest I ever get, though, is definitely the end of the pregnancy. Jeans with higher panels to help "smooth" can help, and a-line shirts help. But, I've been just weeks from giving birth and had people still not quite sure if I was really pg or just bigger. Le sigh. Hope it goes quickly for you, though!

I agree that it really depends on the clothes I'm wearing. At 30 weeks, I pretty much have a "D" (as long as I'm standing up ) but the bottom part of my tummy is still...looser, for lack of a better term. I look obviously pregnant in shirts that gather under my bust, but in other shirts I kind of look like a blob. The only stranger who mentioned anything to me about being pregnant was the saleslady and the local cloth diaper store, so I get a little paranoid that I still look "just fat", but I really do have a bump now.
