My address is on it and a non-existant janitorial company.

I did have to sign consent for them to open it but since it has my address on it that is what is required.

FedEx did tell me it was a brand new account that had only had two packages sent out. The cops and FedEx did find the situation very strange.

It wasn't super heavy, it felt like it had something in it but not like it had any sort of granules or liquid. So something, but not as heavy as I would think it should be.
Will you get to find out what it is??

Well shoot. I thought we were going to have more drama. Like maybe they sent in the remote controlled bomb thingy.

But the suspense is killing me to as to what it is and why it was sent your address.

Yeah I know! Why would someone use my address??

Sadly no remote control detonator. Though that would have really hacked me off right by my house

Maybe some type of identity theft? Forget about the package and think of someone using your address. Maybe check your credit reports or something. Just an idea.

The cop and I thought it was full of pot. It didn't weigh enough to be granulated chemicals and it wasn't liquid. The bucket was sealed so it might not have given off an odor.

I don't really care about pot but people MAY NOT use my address to mail their pot.

Yikes! That's scary . . . I hope they tell you what they found in it.

I was thinking cocaine or pills, even with good packaging you likely would have been able to smell the pot. I'd think anyway.

Not that I am aware.

FedEx did say this company had sent out a total of two packages and was less than a month old.

I don't know...it was a sealed heavy bucket and no telling what was inside.

It wasn't as heavy as I would think cocaine would be but my knowledge of the cocaine shipping industry is nil.

Maybe I just don't have a criminal mind, but I can't figure out how sending a tub o' drugs to a random person would benefit the dealer. How would they be able to sell the product for profit if they just sent it out randomly? What were they expecting the OP to do with it? Or is the assumption that they just misaddressed the label and intended for it to reach someone else?

If you look at the link posted by lutusdebi a few posts up, you'll see how it works.

Actually I have heard of this before.

Suppose you're a marijuana dealer in the District. You buy, say, 165 pounds of pot from a distant wholesaler, and you want it shipped to the city. You stake out a bunch of addresses at random and choose five houses whose occupants normally aren't home during the day. Then you arrange for five 33-pound FedEx boxes to be delivered to those addresses, with no signatures required.
